Congratulations to Abby McCoy - Nevada Young Mother of
the Year for 2016!!
Abby is the sixth of seven children, an aunt to forty-one
nieces and nephews, a wife of fifteen years, and a mother of
four. Her family moved frequently while growing up, and she
firmly believes that home is wherever her family is. Abby
earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Brigham
Young University in 2002, but knew from a very young age
that she wanted to be a mother above all else.
Abby finds great joy in working with her church’s youth
groups. She takes part in a babysitting co-op, and a
preschool co-op with other moms in her community. She
enjoys volunteering at her children’s school and looks
forward each year to presenting her career as a homemaker
to the students. Abby teaches them that changing the world
starts in the home.
Abby tells us that “My philosophy on parenting is inseparably
intertwined with my religious beliefs about who we are and
where we came from. I believe Motherhood to be a divine gift
and a hefty responsibility. It is the source of my greatest
frustration and my greatest joy. Thankfully, we are given lots
of help [and mercy] along the way......My example matters.
My actions speak louder than my words ever will. And
everything is more effective when done with love.”
